Penguin Music Plays Beatles and Christina Perri at Brooklyn Winery

    Sunday, August 16th, 2015

A couple of weekends ago, Penguin Music had the pleasure of again playing at Brooklyn Winery, a venue we have come to love over the years.

They have a great room to do the ceremony in that just has a great vibe and energy to it, as well as acoustics!

And then, what better a setting for a cocktail hour than a wine bar? Great food, great drinks, and an upscale, swanky, but rustic vibe.

This weekend, we got to play a mostly-Beatles ceremony, with “In My Life” for the processional, and “Blackbird” for the recessional. The bride walked down to Christina Perri https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtOvBOTyX00

This is a great bride walkdown, and has the nice cello part at the beginning!

Penguin Wedding at the Green Building in Gowanus

    Saturday, August 15th, 2015

What a great wedding – but HOT!

A classic set of choices for the ceremony – they selected “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by IZ (jazzy version) and then went to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis for the Bride (one of my favorites). The ended with “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles – how could you get much better than that?

If you haven’t been to the Green Building, it is an awesome space – really nicely done, lots of space, right down in the heart of Brooklyn. A beautiful space and lots of fun to play because it is always well organized and full of people who know how to handle every situation.

FUN Wedding Music at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City

    Saturday, August 15th, 2015

So, I gotta say, sometimes we get good music picks from clients of Penguin Wedding Music, and sometimes we get GREAT ones!

I loved this selection! They went with Talking Heads, “This Must be the Place”, for their processional, which was a great tune to walk down to! Uptempo and fun, a great pump-you-up for the guests.

Next, they went classical with “Here Comes the Bride”…who could argue?

Lastly, “Tonight” by the Smashing Pumpkins…so awesome – sometimes I am genuinely psyched to learn a tune for a wedding, and this was one of those times!

Also, if you don’t know about this venue, you must check it out. It is old-school, really cool, laid back but still has a fancy vibe. In short, very awesome. Check it out here – http://www.metropolitanbuilding.com/weddings/

Great Jewish Wedding at DUMBO Loft with Penguin Music!

    Saturday, August 15th, 2015

OK, so normally, I wouldn’t call a wedding out as Jewish, Roman Catholic, or any other denomination…we do lots of great weddings at Penguin Music and they are all awesome.

But, when they are listed on a blog like this one, it is worth mention…

This venue, The Dumbo Loft, is an eye-popping place for anyone who wants to get married in Brooklyn without sacrificing any swag. We did a couple of unique covers, including a track “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros…come on, I know you all know it!

Wedding Ceremony at Press Lounge at Ink 48 Hotel

    Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

Nate (guitar) and Noah (cello) had a great time playing at the wedding of June and Sam on Saturday. The festivities took place at the Press Lounge, on top of the Ink 48 Hotel in Manhattan. With its sweeping views of the New York skyline and the Hudson River, the Press Lounge has both indoor and outdoor party space. The roof deck was a stunning setting for the ceremony where we played classical music for guitar and cello as well as Beatles favorites for the Prelude as guests gathered, which matched up well with the Bride and Groom’s selections for the ceremony- All Beatles! Sam and June walked down the aisle to Here Comes the Sun and recessed to All you Need is Love! Two great choices on their part.

One thing distinguished this ceremony from any other I’ve attended- a special flower girl preceded them- the bride’s dog!!! Off leash and going a bit wild with the excitement of the occasion. We were psyched too.

Wedding Music at Wainwright House in Rye, NY

    Saturday, May 14th, 2011

This weekend we played at the Wainwright House which is located in the beautiful Rye, NY which seems to have many choices of wedding venues because of many beautiful old houses (or castles might be more accurate). The house is a popular destination for weddings as well as a non-profit, non-sectarian holistic learning center.
The weather was probably as perfect as it can be. You can see that the ceremony overlooked the water….quite nice.
