Beautiful Brooklyn Wedding in Japanese Hill and Pond Garden in Brooklyn Botanic Garden

What a beautiful venue and event! I had the pleasure of playing a small, solo affair this weekend at the Japanese Hill and Pond Garden, which is a small area within the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens (a must see!). A small group of about 20 attendees gathered for this special affair, and it was very quaint and intimate. Playing The Beatles “Blackbird” for the processional and “Somwhere Over the Rainbow” for the Recessional were both perfect musical choices! And I even got some great pictures of the turtles beforehand! See below. Congrats to Ken and Jack – they seemed extremely happy and we wish them the best!

Penguin Music Plays a Wonderful Ceremony and Cocktail in Babylon, Long Island at The Ventian Yacht Club

What a beautiful July 4th weekend!

We were very pleased to be a part of this gorgeous wedding that took place right on the Ocean at the Venetian Yacht Club in Babylon, LI. It was indeed a hot one! Luckily for us and our instruments, we got some shade. For the bride, it was Dave Matthews Band’s “Crash”, which we were surprised to say we had never been asked for before! Not sure if you can tell in the picture, but these groomsmen had some fresh kicks on their feet, none of this dress shoe nonsense! It was a beautiful day, great people, and a fun time had by all!

Corporate Event Music at The Foundry

    Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

Nate and I had a great time yesterday playing for the Betaday convention at Long Island City’s Foundry. The event began with presentations by innovative software developers in the Foundry’s beautiful atrium. Then the party began on the rooftop lounge, with its stunning view of the Manhattan skyline and 59th Street Bridge. The atmosphere was relaxed as these young techies chilled and networked over a beer and lobster rolls. Nate and I entertained them with pop tunes like Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and some Classic Rock faves like White Room by Cream, which sounds unusually good on Cello and Acoustic! Also cut a bossa groove with Jobim standards like Corcovado, which took the sunset gathering to a deeper level of chill….. Looking forward to more summer sunsets at venues like the Foundry!

Wedding Ceremony at Press Lounge at Ink 48 Hotel

    Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

Nate (guitar) and Noah (cello) had a great time playing at the wedding of June and Sam on Saturday. The festivities took place at the Press Lounge, on top of the Ink 48 Hotel in Manhattan. With its sweeping views of the New York skyline and the Hudson River, the Press Lounge has both indoor and outdoor party space. The roof deck was a stunning setting for the ceremony where we played classical music for guitar and cello as well as Beatles favorites for the Prelude as guests gathered, which matched up well with the Bride and Groom’s selections for the ceremony- All Beatles! Sam and June walked down the aisle to Here Comes the Sun and recessed to All you Need is Love! Two great choices on their part.

One thing distinguished this ceremony from any other I’ve attended- a special flower girl preceded them- the bride’s dog!!! Off leash and going a bit wild with the excitement of the occasion. We were psyched too.

Ceremony Music at the Yale Club in NYC

    Saturday, July 20th, 2013

    July 13th, 2013

What an elegant place for a wedding reception! Located close to Grand Central in Manhattan, the Yale Club was very classy and beautiful. The room was large and decorative. The event staff and venue were very well organized, and it went very smoothly on all sides. With classic ceremony choices like The Beatles “In My Life” and Elvis “Can’t Help Falling in Love” the ceremony energy was perfect. We wish them all the best!
